Halvarn the Reiver (Joins the Glaurung)
« on: January 26, 2014, 12:49:34 PM »
A new hero signed onto voyage with the crew of the Glaurung this week, though not everyone is happy about it. Still, Halvarn has one asset that could prove very useful to the quest.

Read about him and see a couple more pics on my blog: http://www.therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/halvarn-reiver-joins-glaurung.html

Now that's a bad arse looking fellow.

That is an UBERCOOL mini AND the SPLENDID paint job adds to that impression.

nice. I like the model and the story. Who says that everone from Rohan is a shiny hero? Any idea why he left Rohan and become a fighter against the poeple from the south?  A fugitive? Lost his family? Hopeless love?

I really like the paintjob, especially the metals and the cloak. Just one suggestion: The background is ok, but a real photobackground would be better and bring the miniature even more to life.

Thanks guys, it is a great figure, one of the best from the line, in my opinion.

Doomhippie - as I see it, he spent his youth as a petty thief. When he burned all his bridges in Rohan, he drifted into Gondor, where he continued his ways. Eventually, to stay one step ahead of the authorities, he joined up with a raiding crew. This allowed him to completely indulge in his rough ways, while maintaining a shred of legitimacy and a safe home to return to. It will be interesting to see how he interacts with some of the more heroic members of the crew.

Peithetairos - do you mean photoshop in some real trees or something? I have seen it done to make some outstanding pictures. Unfortunately, I don't really posses the photoshop skills necessary. And, in truth, I always prefer to see miniatures in their real environment. As beautiful as some of those scenes are, I love to look a beautiful table full of terrain and miniatures that I can aspire to.
