The base looks great, and the proportions of the pillar to the plinth look right, but the  plinth looks kind of bare! Are you planning some water spouts or something simulor(sp?)I'm no expert but I don't think the victorians would leave that much space unadorned? Sorry I don't have more definate sugestions.

  Hi,
Odd Duck, I am looking to put one on each side, but as yet I am struggling to find something to fit. I thought of trying GW shields but they didn't look right, I have some Bretonnian knights helms with heraldic tops which I am looking at but not sure about. I will be adding something though.
As well I have another set of terrace houses on the way and a group of 3 buildings ( 2 shops and a corner pub). These are metcalfe low relief kits, which myself and Pappa Midnight, are trying to rescale to fit.

more soon

Cheers

If you know anyone who has them, the plastic Mordheim sprues has gargoyles etc on it. Another useful source is 6/10mm monsters. Just chop the front half off and stick to a wall.
So many projects..... so little time.......

My Pegasus' Gothic building had loads of extras.  I'll look them up and see if I had some spare.

I see you're ahead of me and already working on it ! The only sugestion I can come up with would be to check out toy stores and see if you can find some plastic lions and mount the heads as water spouts painted bronze! I'm sure what ever you decide on it'll be great. looking forward to seeing the pub it would'nt look like England with out one!

Hi Esteemed coleagues,
At last here is the pub, albeit in covered shell form and as yet un-named. As well as doing the fountain I have been trimming balsa down for window/door frames sils etc. I'm also waiting for the local model shops to get in some packs of grey brickwork so I can finish rendering the terrace houses. In the pipeline next is a set of shops and another pub, and a set of terrace houses, both from Metcalfe, that need enlarging and reprinting. The Police station is in the middle of being painted as well. There's no more news about the fountain waterspouts yet, will be making a decision and completing it for or at the weekend.
Here's the pub, still un-named from the left

Here you're looking at the front doors

And finally here's the small back yard. Beer barrels are stored in the cellar which may hold a secret doorway to the sewer system.

I hope this wets your appetite and lives up to your expectations from me. I promise alot more to follow after the finishing bits are done to the already built units. Plus I have the citizens waiting to be painted.

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement, keep it comming, critcisms as well.

Cheers

Fritzy

Based on London coppers I know, I think he is actually waiting for the pub to open so that he can down a swift pint!

Hi Guys,
The actual building of the buildings is actually a very quick and easy process, and almost foolproof (must be if I can do it). All you really need is an idea of what you want and relative size. Then you draw out the wall sections onto foamboard, mark out doors windows etc and cut everything out. Once all sides have been cut out you make sure they all fit together and once you are satisfied lay them out for covering. Now you cover each piece in a glue of your choice (1 at a time) and cover this with a sheet of brickwork. Now do the others.
Now have a cuppa. All dry? Yep. good. Now cut along the tops and bottoms of the windows and the tops of the doors. Then make a vertical cut in the middle of the previous cuts to join them up. All that's needed now is to fold the flaps into the holes to brick up the uprights. Glue these then trim excess off on the inside.
It couldn't be easier, without someone else doing it for you.
There my secrets outon a very easy method.
It's the finishing off that drags the process out.
I'll have some pics of things up on Sunday. Not sure what as yet.

 Cheers

  Fritzy

See, I dont get why people use foam baord. I much prefer ordinary carboard. Its free, its more eco friendly and if you are reusing old boxes then its recycling too! Foam board limits the size of your construction by its ridiculous cost, in my opinion. Especially if you are covering it anyway, and you cant see the textrue...

It's not that expensive Curtis, besides, most of us don't have large amounts of thick cardboard from resin deliveries  :D We have to make do with much thinner stuff such as food packaging. The main advantage of Foam board is it can be painted or have coatings applied without going soggy or warping.

Hi all,
Curtis I use card as well as foamboard depending on what I want. Foamboard gives me the added bonus of the thickness which gives you instant window recesses. So far I've only spent around £5 on foamboard. Plus it's easier making and joining corners which are stronger. Like Dewbakuk said, I too dont have access to the thicker corrugated card only the thin type used for cereal boxes. In the end you can use what you like and different people use different things for different jobs. At around £5-6 per sheet I think it's quite reasonable.

Hi Guys,
After a slow week of changing shifts at work for the last day and being away (stayed at my Dads for the change at work( Did 3pm to 11pm then next day was 7am to 3pm)) It's less travelling time. I finally managed to get the fountain ready to varnish today ready for the water tomorrow :o. I still need to drybrush the pavement before it is ready to varnish.
Hope you like the use of GW horse heads ( Big thankyou to Pappa Midnight for suggesting them), I and PM think it ties the statue and the fountain base together.
Now I'm on 2 weeks leave I hope to get more done, todays jobs include woodwork on windows etc and fit a pair of gates to the pubs back yard. Any ideas for the pubs name will be considered as I'm drawing a Blank (apart from The Lead Adventurer poss.)

Here's the latest pics then

And slightly blurred sorry, very late night shooting things up on the Xbox with PM and then waking early

Hope you like the progress, sorry it's slow. I'll try to speed up a bit now i'm on my hols. :D

Cheers

Fritzy
