Red Aliens scouting party
« on: January 28, 2014, 11:12:05 PM »
More figs that have been sitting around for a while and now just painting up.  Bought these figures based on how they looked, from old comics and book art I have seen.  But when I got the figs they not quite what I expected. They are thin and hard to put together.  Each part was separate, legs, arms and gun. And by being thin where a paint to glue as almost no contact area. This is one reason did not paint them right away. They are not a bad looking figure just needs to be designed a little better.

Since I already have grey and green aliens wanted to do them in a different color. Chose  to do them in a red orange skin color scheme. Liked where it was going but the soft detail of the figure does not work for my paint style.  But will use them in some game along the way.

Nice. Like you said; soft detail, but they do have character. The paintscheme works well; there's a nice contrast between the orange skin and the cool colours of the clothing.

Those heads are really reminiscent of the Grey aliens in the last rendition of X-COM.

May I ask where these minis are from?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Yes they are 3D miniatures. Bought them through Rattlehead games as test force with an order.

They sound a pain to assemble but look good! The bold colours are great! Personally I'd be tempted to fill the gaps in the slotta bases just for neatness.  :)
