Tankette MK2
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:36:01 PM »
Hi,

the first tank was huge, the last one small, so thought about building something in the middle.... here it is:

What do you think about the round turret? I'm not quite sure. Does the gun look to small? I planned 4 guns in the front and to the sides of the turret.
Next are the tracks...

I think I'd go hexagonal for the turret, just seems to fit the vehicle better.

Where are you intending the 4 guns to go? Ranged around the turret or in the hull?
So many projects..... so little time.......

I like the round turret. It seems to fit the hull. I would cite early armored cars and many naval applications that used round turrets.

Squatty is fine too.

Machine gun looks good.

Maybe work the 'putty thingy' a bit. Hmmm?

Of course I'm just looking at the WIP and imagining the rest.

I think your overall 'casemate' / hull / fighting compartment / power plant looks reasonable.

Onward man!

Really, it's gonna look great.

Hi.... thanks for your answers... I do the puttywork before I go to bed, so it is cured, when I continue working  ;) I think I will stay with the round tower... I will cast some MGs soon so I can stick them anywhere on the tank, to see where they fit best...  o_o

Not sure about multiple guns unless you perhaps mounted a pair (or even a trio) of mgs on the turret.

A little update:

I just made molds for the MGs.... hope I can cast these little friends with resin.

Tobi

UPDATE:

I'm quite satisfied with the casted guns...

Looking very good so far!
I like the round turret, it fits in well withe overall look (IMHO). Good idea with casting your own MGs.
Look forward to seeing the finished product.

 Wow!

May be a bit difficult to train the guns?

"Left, left,  no-no, not that far left."

"Oy! Sergeant old thing, zombos on the right, there's a good gunner."

Is there to be a primary gun?

Maybe trunk the funnel down and back? As in an "S" shape. Heh. Targeting behind ya might pot the tinware?

It's coming together great.  I like the sides, where the tracks will be.  I think it's got too many guns though.  I'd settle for two, myself.  And if you have two next to each other, I suggest that they be parrallel to each other.

Nice tankette, but as far as the guns are concerned, I would prefer one main gun with one machine gun next to it, placed exactly left and right from the turret's centre line.  After all, it is a turret, so its guns can cover 360°...  The room inside the turret would not be enough to accomodate 3-4 gunners, right?  If one wants to create a MkII, machineguns can still be glued to the hull, right above the trackguards, I feel.

Excellent stuff! I'll second Rudis point of view, but I would place either a small gun or a machine gun in the turret.
Now get yor website running, and we'll bombard you with orders...  o_o lol

Hi,

after all these comments on the guns, think I will ship 4 MGs with every tank and you glue them where you want to :)
