Portal reference?

Nice work, I really like that ogre too. Minor suggestion - I would paint the end of the barrels on the Terminators black.

Sure is a portal reference :Do

Do you mean like a dry brushed burnt effect? Or a full black coat?
That can be something I do when picking out the gems, which I shall be doing either today or tomorrow as I only have the two terminators left. Then on to the genestealers, which are already half way done haha.

Full black. On the heavy flamer in this one:

It's silver and imho would look better black. Less of an issue on the heavy bolters as they're drilled out.

Howdy everyone, again another update on the blog.
This time I am showing off the work for my new gaming board/terrain board. Its coming on really nicely and will even be lit eventually with some flame style flickering LED's and i am even tempted to put a smoke generator that I have spare from an old model railway locomotive just for show haha.

If you read it and have comments please do as I REALLY need feedback on the island board haha.

All the bets everyone and I hope you enjoy the rambles there too...

Looking good.

Not sure on everything you're planning, but that cardboard base the house in on might need some reinforcing/switching to thin (3mm) MDF.

Nice idea. :) I take it there'll be more 'rock' built up under the cardboard?
Not sure about the wee stalactite bits, but I could be safely ignored because I'm not sure what else to suggest; apart from some horizontal marks to hint at layers of rock. (I'd recommend a look at some areas on this side of the Oirish Sea: Cliffs of Moher, Dunluce, areas of the Giant's Causeway, including bits that aren't the familiar honeycomb columns, etc. ;) )

The house has a few extra walls around the front so I hope the card will hold as it is already fixed down, it may be a slight over sight on my part as card is easier to cut, in fact I don't have a jigsaw? To cut mdf sheet haha. But it's not going to be bashed around with gaming so I hope it will hold well.

As for the rocky outcrop  stalactites, it was mainly a test to see what I could build up with the clay that I had. So it will get "edited" When I start to add rock to the underside of the card board, which answers that part too haha.
As for inspiration and reference I shall have a look at the rugged Irish coast line as haven't managed to find a rock type I'd like to replicate yet.

Thanks for the input you though you two, gives me some new aspects to think about :)

OK so a lot has happened this week.

I wont go in to full details here as I dont want to be a depressing bugger, but the basics are Sunday, my depression took a nose dive into me being suicidal for a few days, my family and some friends have helped me get back on my feet and ironically the doctor made me feel even worse, she seemed to not listen, took no notes and just sent me on my way. I am going to look into a different doctor and even a weekly therepy group type of thing to go to and see if that will help in the long term.

However now that I AM back on my feet and feeling a bit better, I have done some more research for the island project as I said that I would and found some interesting photographs of natural arches, so I think that little rocky outcrop will be turned into a small natural arch which will be of a softer rock and erroded quicker. this will have connected the island to the mainland many years ago.
I have tested the cardboard further with various weights and it seems to hold very well as only a small amount of it is not supported. However there shall be a lot of rocks underneath with plants growing and hanging from the underside.

I have also made a full start on my dark eldar, photos to come with a blog update on Monday. I am very happy with them so far and I have to admit it will be the first 'good' size force that I will have done and it isnt even for gaming with haha, just as a little display piece for my own sense of completion haha.

ANyway I hope everyone else here is well :)
