Looking good, velcro on felt sounds like a very smart idea, let us know how it works out.

Also where in the Netherlands did you find foamcore, let alone black? I've been trying to source that stuff for ages.

And a question no one asked - what's that heli near the tiles? Guess it isn't Cyberpunk related? lol

@YPU: Here in Groningen there are two artist supply stores which sell it (Flokstra & Peter van Ginkel). Maybe Van Ginkel has an address near you?

@Predatorpt: hahaha! Good catch. That's a police chopper for my nephew who just turned 3. My 3 year old son is extremely jealous (as he should be).

How about mounting them in felt and have a felt matt on the table, that should be fairly sturdy with regard to being knocked around?

cheers

James

When you say "mount", do you mean glue them down, or just place the tiles on top? If you just set the tiles on top of the felt they still won't move around, and it's a lot easier to do. Another idea is to place small dots of hot glue on the backs of the tiles. The cooled hot glue dots would grip the slick surface of the table quite nicely.

And the tiles look fantastic! I'll have to check out Pwork for myself. I really love this thread.

For people who enjoy Cyberpunk, check this out. I have downloaded all images from it as inspiration for my own table :-*
What a beauty...!!!

I use felt on the bottom of my foamcore buildings for infinity and they hold well enough to the normal painted boards we use to not slide around.  Normal self-adhesive backed felt from the fabric store (although you can also glue non-self adhesive stuff to the bases.
They hold like babycrap to a blanket on the one textured (grassmat) board we have, though, no movement at all, and come off with the "scritch!" of velcro when we move them.

I made a game report of our Black Ops game, using my Cyberpunk scenery:

Still need to do a LOOOOOOT of stuff. I think it's getting there, but it's still too clean and too sterile. It needs more clutter, more random garbage and stuff. More things to make it look more realistic and alive.

Update! Garbage time

As I stated in my last post, my table needs more clutter. Way more clutter...
So time to get down on it! I scrounged in my collection for a number of skips and got some paint on them. In addition I also made a lot of garbage. To do this, I followed a tutorial by fatgoblin in the Combat Zone Chronicles (http://combatzonechronicles.net/cozox/putty.htm) and used a large amount of Apoxy Sculpt to make 22 trash bags and an old matrass. In addition, I printed a lot of cardboard boxes (Ebbles and Tommygun) and added things like a trash can and some oil drums. Then I made some plastic card templates and glued the stuff on top of it to make it solid and easy to place.
Lots of work for some rubbish, but I'm happy with the result!

I've only been properly discovering this thread just now. Great work, all of it! Projects like this which marry good figures with good terrain are the hobby at its best.

Brilliant use of junk!
 :-* ;) :-*

I do love scatter terrain, it really brings a table to life.

I am putting some together for my sci-fi stuff at the mpoment and you can consider some of those ideas royally nicked, mate!

Your scatter terrain is great. You can't have too much of that stuff and yours are particularly well done.  I went on a scatter terrain building binge last year...

... and I still feel like I could use some more. Your trash skips remind me that I ordered a bunch of these LEGO dumpster/dump pieces a while back to make into dumpsters but never got around to it.

Maybe it's time to dig those out.

Eilif, I think there are also some hard plastic wheels from lego that make great sci-fi barrels. I think I have both lying around in my old collection but no way I'm going to break into that, I would have to order some pieces. That skip might really be a good idea I have to say.

I think I know which ones you are talking about. LEGO is actually a pretty good source of bits for greebling. If you have the time to dig through the "Bricklink" site you can often find very useful pieces for really low prices.  Especially if they are in colors no one wants since modelers like us are going to paint them anyway.  The only one I did end up doing up as part of a near-future recycling center.

Once you cut off the 4 LEGO studs it doesn't look LEGO at all.
