cheap/affordable figure case
« on: February 15, 2014, 04:08:24 PM »
Hey guys.

I'm looking around for a nice cheap figure case, a few years back I found some that I can only describe as "dremel cases", they were just plastic blank ones with Eggshell foam in, the wavey foam, and they were nice and cheap, less than £20, I really need a case but cannot risk a card KR one due to British weather.

Any suggestions?

I have a lovely pistol case that I picked up at a sporting good store for $15, hard plastic, curvy foam, holds about 40 standard 28mm minis.

Why not use the KR case and paint the cardboard with something waterproof?
Varnish or household paint should do it.

Or coat it in plastic.

I usually build my own, which does not help you, of course I do sell some occasionally, not cheap...$150, which does not help you, but I have used these and they are excellent for the price. You will have to get some foam. The first is the best, larger with convenient adjustable dividers.

How easy is it to get pistol cases in the UK?

KR also sell carrying cases that are made to fit their cardboard cases.

You might also want to ask around and see if anyone is selling any GW cases. I lived in Vancouver for years and mine got wet all the time and never leaked water into the case.

Yep. Our olympic pistol team has to train abroad, but they had a special dispensation during the olympics. There's a total pistol ban, so the only folk who have them are some cops and many criminals. More criminals have them than cops of course, and honest legal citizens can't have them at all any more. It stinks.

Meanwhile I've an old school chum who moved to Canada who carries a pistol for his work and has a 7.62 gun for pleasure...

Cool, but as one of the "Crazy Gun Nuts Americans" let me remind everyone, (before the Moderator feels led to remind us,) that the subject is cases for miniatures...

So how do they compare cost wise to KR cases with covers?

Well that would take a £25 case to £35, so defeats the object :P

KR make fabric cases for their card ones. I know this will add to the cost initially, but if you end up with more that one KR case, you can always swap it over. In fact I have a fabric case in the loft I would be willing to sell, as I one one in a raffle at Salute.

Lidl have metal coin cases for £12.99. You'll need to provide your own foam inners though to take models though.
