(KICKSTARTER) Counterblast by Airlock Games
« on: 17 February 2014, 07:03:44 AM »
Trying to stay within the rules, here's a new thread* for Airlock Games' Counterblast KickStarter:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/airlockgames/counterblast-adventure-battle-game

Looks to be going down well but not at a record breaking pace as of yet.

As was to be expected, nothing much by the way of minis I'd care to get into as p&p for just one or two minis is so high -- and I really wouldn't want more than a couple form the ones shown so far. Oddly, it looks as if you'd be required to pay a postage fee for PDF downloads as well if you're not USAnian but that's prolly not the case IRL.

I like many of the miniatures but the postage is a killer and I don't like buying sets for a game I won't play. I'll be waiting for the produced miniatures to appear in their shop and then I'll pick the ones I must have since they're generally $10 each.

I backed their last one and would like to support this effort, but I don't do pdf rulebooks in general.  I like an actual book in my hand.
This is my boomstick!

Some cool looking mini's and lord knows I'd like to do this period someday but (hands shaking) I'm desperately trying to reduce my venues for gaming and the lead pile!

I like the PDF rule book method, you just hit print, double sided, and "waa laa" you have an actual rule book in your hands. If you cant "print" yourself you take the PDF file down to the local print shop and have it done, bound the way YOU like it, perhaps a bit more costly but you save shipping. The finial price would depend on the original cost of the PDF rules. It also allows the writer to update and correct future "printings" easily and distribute them to folks who have already paid. Now that being said I wonder how the publishers will fair given the habit of some gamers to print 6 copies of a set and give them away..... I would think they are counting on the mini's to make the money. their are a lot of "older" rule set now available this way.

Yep, I was going to jump on this one myself but will give it a miss now. I detest PDF rule books, I'm still oldskool. I appreciate it's easy enough to get them printed but it's an unnecessary hassle & often works out to be quite costly  :?  Hopefully there will be a proper printed version produced at a later date.
...and what fresh new hell is this?

Don't get me wrong I too like the "proper" rules printed nicely, BUT many great "little" rules efforts would not get done given the budget restraints on smaller printing efforts. Not to mention the fact that then when they print it and given limited sales have to charge appropriately someone always complains "what that much $$ for a 30 page set of rules!" PDF if just another way to go that works in many instances. too each their own.... lol

I had my super system 3 rules printed up for about 15 bucks at a print place. Not sure where you guys are going to get stuff printed, but 10 to 15 on average to get my pdf rules printed.

I look at most PDF rules are 10 to 25 bucks to buy, plus the 15 to have printed.. I am looking at 40 bucks to have a PDF rule book printed. Plus if I lose it, or damage it I can get a back up on the cheap... I already own the PDF :)

Kickstarter for rules is problematic for me, I have no idea about there quality, or if I would ever use them.  Now the miniatures in general I can go for, but I a little disappointed in the one eyed dwarf, Illyrain, that reaper his in stock, there are five of those little buggers not to mention stretch goals.  Well that more personal preference, and nothing says "deal" to me.

I did not know that, so I hunted for them and then, I have to have an account with the to get them.   Since I have been getting all types of stuff since the Target data theft, I'm hesitant to establish anything right now, so my hard luck, I guess.  Personally, I like to see companies up front saying they would sell my info in any way....

Well, I thought what the hell and signed up for an account, and the Free Preview rules are not available ..
