Gents,

...get off the phone :D

..having finished up the ZIPRA/ZANLA nationalists I have added a Rhodesian platoon from the early campaigns fought in the Zambesi Valley to take them on....a bit different.

The figures are 28mm Eureka (by Kosta Herko) and they came up a treat. Pop on over and have a look if you feel so inclined  ;)

I will be fighting these imperialist running dogs on Friday, using the Flying Lead rules.

Here is the Roster for Sargent Happy Wanderer's squad.

So are you still playing Memoir 74? Also is it only for 28mm,or san you use it for 20 or 15mm? Let us know how the game comes out.

Love your figures.
Looked at your blog.
Lots of cool stuff.
I have some of the ZIPRA  figures.
They are even painted. Now to get them in a game.

That's the first photo I've seen of a Rhodesian carrying an FN-FALO, normally you see Bren guns as a 'squad automatic weapon' where there actually is one and they are not just carrying the MAG instead.

Accounts describe the green fatigues as looking 'white' in the light of flares... I can understand why now, given how light this guy's shirt is.

Nice find, thanks for sharing.  :)

Gents,

Thanks for the kind words and that's an excellent photo Ash. It pretty much nails the combo green shirt and hat with camo pants that I modelled the early Rhodies on. I think you would agree it's a pretty good fit.

The Green shirt did indeed appear whitish as a result of the use of illumination flares which influenced the move toward camoflauge clothing. As early as 1966 these sorts of 'detail lessons' being learnt in the Zambesi valley operations which honed the COIN operations of the future.

Juergan, Happy Wanderer would NEVER play Memoir 44'. No we played our latest action using the Ganesha 'Flying Lead' rules In my opinion these are just the ticket for a squad a side.

Happy Wanderer took some pictures, so I hope he can put a skirmish after-action report up.
