Prussian Buglers in 1870
« on: 21 February 2014, 09:24:08 PM »
There were clearly French Buglers with the line regiments during the FPW period; how about the Prussians?

I have found these two pics that support the idea but I am curious if anyone has solid information.

and about half way down....

BTW nice pic of a mitrailleuse at the bottom of the second link.

So any solid ideas about Prussian Buglers with the Line Regiments?

Thanks.

I had always seen drummers for Prussian line and guard infantry regiments, and buglers for Jaegers (sorry, but can't type an umlaut over the a).  Will check out my books to see if I can get you a cite.

Yes they did,I converted some figures to make them for my hessian 25th division but not in the helmet, but their visored fatigue cap, like the Saxons in 1866.plus they look cool. Now  I can not remember where I read it.maybe osprey,or countless reading material.I do remember using the Waldorf Astoria albums as a scource for much of my painting.I would go to the Der Alte fritz blog(Journal),and click on the Deutsche Uniformen site, and it is a treasure trove of waldorf Astoria albums and more.Good luck on your gorgeous figures,i can't wait to buy more figures I have to have.

I have heard that it was the Jaegers and Fusiliers that carried Bugles; and Line (Musketeers) and Grenadiers were equipped with Drums. This sort of makes a bit of sense. Any additional thoughts are certainly appreciated. We really do want to get the Footsore Minis range as accurate as we possibly can. Thanks in advance and for all of the support.
