Coriosopitum, summer 547 A.D. The Angles are back.
After the fiasco of theirs previous raid, we espect that tha angles will came back early or later with a revenge aim. What we didn´t espect is that their aim this time was not the cattle, but the holy objects and relics from a small church in a village near Coriosopitum. This time Cedric had a clear aim, and he didn´t waste time raiding the village neither seizing the sheep.
Here we can see the Angles arriving at the village. This time the sheep are safe... We can´t see anybody near either.

Cedric chooses to advance fast with most of his forces, bypassing the village and avoiding this way bad encounters among the hovels. Meanwhile, his archers will go through the village to be sure nobody lurkes between the hovels.

Tribune Aemilius, alerted by his explorers of the angles presence, is the first to arrive at the village with two milites groups.

Next arrive his two faithful nobles with the elite comanipulares and the militia that they were able to gather.

Cedric, on seeing the britons, urges his elite warriors forward to engage them.

Aemilius orders his nobles to deploy theirs troops to cover both sides of the church.

Cedric chooses to split his forces too, and send a group of warriors to bypass the church by the opposite side.

Aemilius, on seeing Cedric on the vanguard with only a group of warriors, decides to attack.

But Cedric, the angle dog, decides to play the card bounding move, and more angle warriors join the melee. What is going to be a fight of 12 against 6 is now 12 against 12.

And now begins the debacle. An abismal serie of dice throws sees the britons losing two milites and two comanipulares, forcing the shieldwall to move back. Aemilus have to call another milites group to hold the line.

Meanwhile, the rest of the angles warriors is bypassing the church, and there are barely enough britons to hold them.

The angles are astonished, they forced back the briton shieldwall on the first clash!

Finally, a briton noble on seeing the danger that are the angles bypassing the church, decides to send the rest of the militia, but may be these troops were more useful supporting Aemilius.

Both sides light troops are engaded too, but for little efect.

Cedric angles don´t waste time and charge against the shieldwall, killing one milites more, and breaking the formation.

This is too much for the britons, and they fall back.

And the victorious angles go forward.

And, to add more, on the other side of the church, things go bad too for the britons. Some apalling dice throws made them to lose 4 figures, and they have their backs against their falling back comrades as well.

Cedric seizes his chance to charge the militia in the back.

And he carry on pushing back the britons.

The last dice throw for the britons... no coments.

The briton militia, notwithstanding killing 4 angles, decide that they already had enough, and that the church relics are not so important, and they withdraw (ahem). Aemilius decides to keep fighting to hold the angles while they complete their tactical withdraw.

But assailed in every side, they have to "withdraw" too, after losing all the manipulares death or injured.

The church is looted...

And thus the battle ended, a disaster for the britons. These are the figurines lost:

Too many...
This defeat forces me to spend three months rallying and training new forces. Three months that Cedric can use to raid at will on the kingdom, and I can do nothing to avoid it. Cedric, on the other hand, can recruit a new javelinmen unit, and can add a proud sobriquet to his name.
