Polar Expedition
« on: 23 June 2008, 11:14:24 PM »
Here are some pictures of a small diorama I made for my brother just for fun. It was my first attempt at this sort of thing but it was great fun to do and I am learning every time I try.

I would like to thank all the members of this forum for the inspiration to try me hand at actually doing something like this.

[I try to use the image code, but can't make it work, so here are the links instead]

Cheers!
Eric

Lovely Eric, you will now have to change your name to Antarcticman :D

 :D Thanks Lowtardog!

I'd love to but....
my little brother is Antacticman, since he's been to the South Pole the lucky guy.
He worked there for three months drilling ice cores and hung out with the constant flow of adventurers that were then still crossing the pole.
So its the Arctic for me, and at least I have spotted more whales than he... lol

Very nice. I love the Penguin about to slide down the slope :)

Cool, arcticman! May I cime with a piece of what I hope is constructive criticism? Snow appears quite matt in nature and it appears glossy in your pic. May I suggest a coat of dull enamel and a sprinkle of baking soda?

Very neat little scene - right down to the icy sled tracks. Nicely done.  :)

Thank you for the comments.   8)

I know I wanted to to a polar piece with a sled and whe I saw the "frisky penguins" on the Copplestone site I knew I just wanted to do a piece with a penguin sliding down a slope.  lol

Hammers: thanks for the tip, I used the Vallejo snow effect straight from the bottle, and I agree its a bit too glossy. I will definitely try dull enamel and baking soda on ny next wintery project (I'm not arcticman for nothing  :D ).
