Appropriate Female figures
« on: 01 March 2014, 03:32:15 PM »
I have no problem with VSF/Steampunk/Weird West/Victorian female figures with "skin exposed"  :)   ;D that would have been scandalous at the time  :o so this is not a prude issue as much as a setting/historical issue.

Outside of the saloon girl/prostitute  :) or VSF/Steampunk/Weird West  lol veins I try and find historically appropriately dressed female figures for my games.   8)

This means the wonderful http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50003 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50244 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/59027 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50216 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50282 - are all unfortunately "out" for my current purposes but http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50111 - http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/59023  are "in" for my purposes.  Before anyone asks, the non-historicalmouslings like http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cowgirl/sku-down/50285 are different since they would be viewed as "different" (to say the least.)  ;)

So, I am looking for a few more armed [I have many unarmed ones] appropriately dressed (wearing women's or - shocking enough :o  o_o  :o  for the times - men's clothing) females to fill out the Victorian style Anglos for my Northern Mexico/Southwest USA games.  I don't need many but because I have one and two pistol armed ones the ones with carbines/rifles/shotguns are especially desired.

Suggestions?

Gracias,

Gleen

Wargames Foundry Darkest Africa Range DA016 has some women that might be suitable but some of the headgear is not right but a quick head swop would sort that out.

Shadowforge (I think?) do a really nice ranchers daughter with a repeater.

Brigade has a few options in their ranges.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Many of the Black Scorpion townfolk sets have excellent females...skip their female "tombstone" packs (huge boobs and too many guns, silly outfits).

Black Burt,

Thanks to a closed FLGS and Ebay I think I have all (or almostall) the Foundry women.

The hats I attribute to a lack of understanding between African Colony and American Frontier plus the "Fashion Gap."

Good suggestion.

Glenn

Ray Earle and Lou P.,

Earp Girls and Rancher's Daughter already locals and they are great, selling Madam Orr to bankroll another project (though just now I realized that a middle of nowhere pueblo would possibly have a "professional working ladies establishment" (just not in current plans.)  Maybe between the Cantina, the Churches, the Convents and the Monastery...

Glenn

Elbows and others,

Yes, I have the two Tombstone Black Scorpion sets.

I might try and find some comparison shots of the female townspeople with Old Glory and Foundry Peons since I have so many Mexicans from those two sources.

So very nice (the two Tombstone female sets if not very historical/appropriate for my current needs) but still trying to find  niche for them because of the height issue.

Gracias,

Glenn

P.S. - overly sensitive people should skip the next section.  As a 60+ year old multi-racial person myself I have become mostly insensitive to the negative origins of the terms below.  Not everyone has.

Warning Slang terms - not all PC - follow.

The Two Tombstones sets would be a good "standalone" basis to make two thematic "outsider" 'bad attitude' teams [Warning Slang terms follow in an attempt to reflect diversity of characters/tropes in the teams:  that could include Mestizo (being used as Spanish/Penninsulars * or Criollos and American Indian heritage,) Metisse (splitting hairs - American Anglo and American Indian intent is to differentiate from Mestizo,) Zambo (Referencing Black and American Indian,) and/or Mulatto (Black and White Heritage.]  I thought there were a lot of the old Colonial Spanish terms for mixing various perceptions of "Sangre" to use the old term - I think 36 - but it seems modern terms (http://www.mixedfolks.com/names.htm ) are at least as confusing (and, sweet Lord, unnecessary to daily living I suspect.)
