Pulp Steam Shovel WIP
« on: 02 March 2014, 08:06:11 PM »
I’m beginning preparations for my Rugged Adventures Pulp game at the Trumpeter Salute Con in Vancouver, April 4th, 5th & 6th. This year’s scenario will require that some of the participating scoundrels dig into places they should better have left alone. As such I need a steam shovel so I decided to scratch build one up using a Leddo lorry as the basis. I thought it might be fun to post the progress.

Here is the basic start. I’ve used hobby brass and corrugated styrene sheets to build the basic box. The rear wheels of the lorry have been replaced with tracks from a 20mm scale French tank from Rafm. The top of the steam engine is a cap from a bottle of eye drops with some brass tubing. So far I’ve glued everything together with epoxy.

Oho! That's looking mighty fine.
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Oh yes, I do like the look of this, keep the photos coming!  :-*

I like the chair in the back, is that where the operator sits when he's on his tea-break?

That looks like a good start!

This is looking increasingly like the Trumpeter Salute that I don't make it too, after being at five of the last six, because work is likely shipping me up to northern Alberta to help run a project there from about mid-March to mid-April...

Somebody take lots of good photos of Mr. Murch's game, please!

Nice work, does this mean that you will be creating a pack of engineers and crew to go with it  8)

I'm working on some construction workers. The jackhammer guy is done as is an older fig with a sledge hammer but I haven't begun the others. I should do that...

Any suggestions on characters? A guy leaning on his shovel and a riveter are my thoughts right now.

I found a nice Company B fig to be my shovel operator.

I just noticed that Company B make a bulldozer! I'm adding that to my Trumpetor scenario as well. Now I need to call Bruce at Company B to order one.
