First blooding for the Regulares
« on: 07 March 2014, 01:04:05 PM »
I have been champing at the bit to get my newly painted Regulares into the fray and James duly obliges yesterday evening when we had a rather spiffing game of Chain of Command.

Enjoyed taking on the Moros. I do like the way they can move 2D6 and go tactical.

Thanks for the AAR and the game mate

You rotters!  I am trying desperately not to give my money to Empress Miniatures until AFTER Dux the Raiders is published!

I am considering a couple of mixed forces from very earl in the war with some POUM supported by Assaltos against Falange supported by Guardia Civil.  Sort of "blind leading the blind" affair with maybe a Bilbao to support the lefties and a rolled up copy of the Daily Telegraph to support the rightists.

The POUM forces will be hard pushed to defeat the heavy support you're giving the Falangistas. With a bigger punch and thicker armour, the Bilbao is really up against it.  ;)

I was privileged  to participate in an SCW Chain of Command game recently, hosted by Richard of " lardie" fame. As a newbie to the rules I felt they really captured the significant variations between the better trained troops and militia etc. I was, of course, duly pounded into the ground by some freak dice rolling by the opposing Carlists (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! ::) ) but I was left well impressed by the rules (and they were light years ahead of Bolt Action!).

Would recommend them strongly for platoon scale actions. (Sticking to A World Aflame for my megalomaniac style large games ;) ).

PS had anyone ever won a game playing as Republicans?!?

PPS nice painting!

Thanks chaps. The Republican militias are up against it but I the last two games we played were very close with no clear advantage.

You always have the moral victory as a given. Measuring victory and defeat in terms of battles won or lost is a fascist perspective. At least that's what the political officer tells me.  ;)

A timely reminder that I paid no complement to the figures though. They really look the part.  :)

Agree with Paul - the Republicans have never seemed underpowered, just different.

Mind you, we have always bolstered the Milicanos with "hardened" troops plus Asaltos
