Otherworld Cerepod
« on: 10 March 2014, 12:29:32 PM »
Hi Everyone,

Here is a sculpt I've completed for Otherworld Miniatures

What do you think?

"This is a floating, tentacled horror, sculpted by George Fairlamb, and cast in pewter in 11 parts (1 x head, 10 x tentacles). It is supplied with a clear plastic flying base, and a 40mm round plastic base with pewter-cast flagstone base topper.

The image shows the sculptor’s green, with a DAH1a Human Fighter for scale purposes (not included).

This item is available for pre-order. Release is 31st March 2014"

thanks
George

Beautiful sculpt. Really captures the creepy factor of such a creature and the detail on the tentacles and the "head" really makes it an outstanding sculpt.

I really want to like it, but it doesn't ring the bell for this particular monster for me, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass. This is one I've been thinking I'll have to scratch-sculpt at some point too. The thing is I'm too much set on it having two distinct hemispheres and an overall heart shape, rather than an egg shape. Also, it doesn't seem to pulse with life, that is the individual sacs don't read like sacs, don't seem to have gravity, or enough bulbous definition. I'm expecting them to look like water balloons attached at one point, rather than hemispheres. And the tentacles just hang down, rather than grope and twist. Still, cool to see a rendition of this monster and don't mind me, I'm probably being overly picky. :)

Thanks everyone I really enjoyed sculpting this piece :)

No worries Spooktalker, all feedback is welcome, I'm still learning and trying to improve ( slowly :) )

Thanks
George
