28mm Radio?
« on: March 11, 2014, 10:14:51 PM »
Does anyone know of a 20's-40's wireless set?

You know, something that looks like this:

These might be useful.  I picked some up and have not found a use for them yet.

Hope that helps.

I have used radio sets from 1/32 toy soldier sets.  Once painted they are passable good.  This one from the New Ray "Glorious Mission" set is the one I used.

You can zoom in on the radio in this Amazon image:

I wasn't able to find any on the Scarab or Old Glory sites... maybe I was looking in the wrong place?

Some good suggestions otherwise, though a bit pricey!

Ah okay. Unfortunately, those are not quite what I need.

I'm really tempted by the historexagents radios which are pretty much perfect, but wheeew £16.

!!!! That sounds aces!  :o

I want them for Pulp gaming, but if you put them on Shapeways, I think they'd be useful for more people than just me - Pulp, VBCW, Interwar, WWII, Early Modern, Post-Apoc, etc.

2-3 simple designs would probably work out just fine. I will try and PM you some references!

That's what i've done in an hour and something of speed-sculpt:

https://www.shapeways.com/model/1779042/wwii-radios.html

Those models are pretty big, the tall one is 3 cm tall, quite a big one. Do you think they are overscaled? I just got carried away... :D
I should probably re-scale all of them, but the bases are quite good...

for smaller ones the prices on shapeways might be cheaper, i think! =)

Wow! Those look great already! You did that in an hour?! Jack, you're a wonder!

I think if you reduce the scale by about 1/3 to 2/5 they'll be fine. 1/2 is probably too much reduction. The big box should be a little over half the height of a typical 28-32mm figure.

Maybe add 1 more box of intermediate size/height and call it a day?
