Return to Schitte Creek

Quebrada del Toro...or Bull's Deep as the gringos call it. I've decided to put Schitte Creek on hold for the moment. I was getting sick of sticking coffee stirrers. So now onto the town of Quebrada del Toro, a border town with Mexico, which will be a mixture of Adobe and wooden structures (but not too many wooden structures). This will no doubt be my favourite town as my preferred gang of choice are Bandidos, of which I have many, many miniatures.

To start off the town we have this modest dwelling, still WIP. I've been very much inspired by Malamute's work on his adobes in San Antonio de Bejar. I'm uncertain whether to have a porch over the door or not, we shall see. This should be finished come the weekend along with my reprinted "Badlands rocks".





And the first of the repainted rocks. One on the left is the paint job they come with.

I am looking forward to making some adobe myself in the future, so watching your progress on this should be educational.
 

As for those Badlands rocks: I keep being tempted by them, but think that I really should make my own.
They are damn good, though, and you waving yours around like this is making it hard to resist them.
Stop it now...there's a good chap.

I had been resisting the rocks too, I kept saying to myself "I could easily make some of my own with real rocks." But I kept seeing others on this board with their repainted sets and the final straw was seeing the Badlands sets in my local model shop, so I bought the smaller rocks and asked them to keep the larger Mesa types aside for me.

Nice beginning

Will those pins holding the foamcore while drying ruin the edge when you paint it? Or will you smear a 'plaster' effect over the whole thing?

Excellent to see. I am going to be doing my own Adobe town later in the spring so will be looking for ideas.   

As for the badlands rocks, I went with them myself , purely so the time can be invested in doing something more interesting !

Here's something to keep you going till I paint the house, Mason

I've just finished painting the rest of my badlands rocks. I've added a bit of greenery so they match the board and other bases of my buildings. The adobe in these pictures is an old scratch build I made a couple of years ago and is a bit rougher than I'd like those in Quebrada del Toro.

Once again we find the law outnumbered by bandits but at least the Pinkerton has allies this time.

Cheers. The mat is just a railway scenic paper mat with stones and sand that I got for £8. I then added the grass tufts to make it a bit more interesting and realistic, and also to cover the holes where the little stones had come loose. This was then glued to a board. Great start! I also love the bandidos most in the OW setting. From which ranges you have collected the bandidos you have?

What are you using for plastering the walls?
