Painting on Drugs!
« on: 27 March 2014, 01:32:37 PM »
It's not what you think... :D

Got a wisdom tooth taken our yesterday and well, after moaning in pain like a 12 year-old girl with a skinned knee, the doctor went to pains to tell me that he's giving me codene for 2 days for the pain and then onto ibuprofen, but he hardly ever proscribes the codene....lol

So home now for a few days, slept about 18 hours and then tried to paint some SAGA levy.  Let's just say my highlights are not totally consistent...  But I think I wont fix anything because they do have a certain charm themselves.  Mind you, I have painkillers in me right now  :o

Anyhoo, just curious if anyone else with an injury, surgery, etc on a painkiller ever tried to give a go at the ol' paintbrush.

Cheers!

When I broke my ankle last summer I had a few similar days.

...you are just laying around in a daze... o_o....and it sure seems like wasted time where you could be painting!  So I gave it a try too...Not great results...and I was painfully slow and deliberate with every brush stroke.  I would also drift off from time to time and find dried paint on my brush when i went to apply it... ::)  Basically it was a sad scene all around.  I quickly retired to the couch and watched more Archer on netflix...now painting on Pain killers may not be great but Archer was hilarious... lol

...of course I could watch it all over again now because I don't remember it very well for some reason... o_o  but it sure was funny at the time...
Cheers,

Blue

I'm sorry to hear about your tooth and hope you get to feeling better soon.

Well back in college one night many moons ago, I was working on an art project painting and drinking margaritas. Well after a pitcher or two I had the urge to paint the Yellow Submarine by the Beetles on the bathroom wall that was a deep blue. The next morning there it was, a masterfully rendered 3' long Yellow Submarine right in front of the toilet.  :o

I know it wasn't a gaming mini but its the closest story I had to share.

Well, when I was much younger, I once decided to do a self-portrait with pencil n ink... after the better part of a bottle of wine, and at about three in the morning. The result was surprisingly lifelike, but it looked as if I had drawn a drunk, sleep-deprived guy for some reason :)

Ow, I had two wisdom teeth out a couple of years back. First one popped out in 30s, the second though 20minutes of wrenching and sawing as it had hooked backwards. Then it ruptured through to my sinus cavity so blowing a balloon would have been an impossibility as there was basically a hole through to my nose from my mouth. I had some good pain killers then, that was sore (not as bad as the 1cm kidney stone I had though)

lol yep. Want to know how they got rid of it? I'll put it in tiny text so if you don't want to know you don't need to read (it might make you cringe)
They had to enter through the urine's exit hole and crush it, then pull it out. Looked like I was peeing cranberry juice.

Not painting related, but in a similar vein, following my vasectomy and discharge from hospital, my three year old thought it would be a good idea to run head first into daddy for a get out of hospital hug. No drugs on earth save cyanide could take the edge off that!  :o

You know, nobody who's had kidneystones or gallstones out has ever followed my advice of making them into dice.

Amazing enough those are sometimes brittle (why, oh why, are they not brittle enough to pass as some kind of finely filtered sand?) after removed and dried out.
