We are very pleased to release our latest vehicle for the Federal Army -- the
Shrike light utility vehicle.
This craft is essentially a militarised dune buggy. Its wheeled version is very fast, light and rugged, and is extremely useful as a scout or a transport for a few troopers. As shown above, it can be armed with an autocannon or a missile launcher, and these little raiders can cause considerable mayhem when they have the element of surprise!
Like with most of its front line vehicles, the Federal Army is making attempts to enhance the mobility of the Shrike -- the
Shrike Grav has a simple swap of four independent anti-grav engines giving the little vehicle even greater mobility -- although only the most intrepid crews are chosen to operate it! This model is shown sitting on the tabletop but we assume most gamers would mount the vehicle on a little flight base to indicate that it is in low hover.
We have four different kits for this vehicle available -- so far two have been painted for display, the autocannon-armed wheeled and grav Shrike. The armed vehicle can also have a missile launcher with missileman, which is included in the armed sets as well as the autocannon. (When arming the Shrike with the missile launcher, the crossbar weapons mount should be attached so that the mount faces
backwards rather than
forwards.)
There's also an unarmed version of the Shrike available, with a driver and an armed soldier riding shotgun -- by the way the driver can be placed either on the right or the left front seat as you prefer. There are so many options for the Shrike that we don't have them all painted yet! However you can see the rest at this forum post:
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=324123 -- the scout vehicle, and the missilelauncher-armed raider, can be seen there.
As with any dune buggy type vehicle, there are going to be rollbars to assemble on the kit. We assume that most 15mm gamers have basic modeling skills but if you're a chap who really doesn't like putting things together this may not be the kit for you. One suggestion is to use a pin vice to slightly increase the size of the holes on the car body which take the pins for the rollbars.
The Shrikes are available now, at the link below. Thanks to ruben at Heresy for the terrific paintup!
