My 28mm/15mm haystack project
« on: April 04, 2014, 07:46:55 PM »
Good Morning,
Today my project was to make some haystacks for my Saga games, and decided to do some 15mm stuff for BC, while I was at it.
Took about an hour  list of supplies:4
Plastic easter egg tops
Small fishing bobbers
PVA glue
White Primer
Woodland scenics static grass
Tamiya dark yellow (airbrushed)
Let me know what you think.

Looks good, but wouldn't it have been better to use the dried grass variant given it already has a pale hay-like color ?

for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Those are really nice and grassy!

Have you thought about putting a vertical pole in the middle?

I thought about some lighter flock, but I had a few beers and didnt want to drive to the store, maybe today I will stop by the train shop today and touch them up.

Sissel rope, untwisted and cut into small (5-10mm) pieces makes excellent straw or hay.

Hey Mark,

Nice stuff! Wish you were closer to So Cal as we could do some SAGA together! If you are every down this way give us a shout!  :D

Meanwhile since I see you have an "airbrush" try doing this to give the hay stacks a bit of "definition", divide the stack into thirds horizontally and do a few darker rings around it then dry brush a light straw color above it. This will give the illusion of successive bunches of hay piled up. I did this on my Dark Age huts because the sculptor left the lines out and I painted them in.   Bill W
