Trumpeter Salute Convention Photos, Western Canada
« on: 07 April 2014, 04:35:18 PM »
The Trumpeter Club, founded by Jack Hutchings in 1964, put on their annual convention this weekend, April 4-6.

The White Rock Gamers, attended on Saturday. Thus these pictures are from that day only. The photos are mostly of the 6 games our group put on plus some of other good looking games.

David from Kingsford Miniatures put on his excellent looking Ronin Samurai game all weekend.
Bob Murch of Pulp Fiction, had his amazing display of personal terrain and figures for games as well.
There were some great looking Warhammer 40K games as a tournament was going on in the next room.

There was a large well run bring and buy. I sold a lot of good things.

Vendors in attendance or supporting were:
Imperial Hobbies
Magic Stronghold
Pulp Figures
Wisers Collectables
Strategies Games and Hobbies
Columbia Games
Burnaby Hobbies

This is not a large convention, approx 200 in attendance, but it is an enthusiastic group, with all games being participation.

Good show WRG! White Rock Club certainly brought out some beautiful games this year. The Trumpeters Society wouldn't be the same without you all contributing so mightily.  :-*

Shout-out to Lee from RAFM for flying out to Vancouver to participate in this year's event and for hosting his awesome Victorian Science Fiction game!

It's true, Trumpeters Salute isn't a 'big' show, but we have a surprising amount of talent out here on the West Coast. Respected authors of rule-sets, miniatures manufacturers and other veterans of the hobby business. That's got to be a big part of the event's success, the quality of the games and the enthusiasm of the folks who come to play.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Looks like I missed a good year.  :( I was expecting work to be shipping me out of town, which didn't happen, but then I completely flaked on actually making plans to come over to Vancouver, for no particularly good reason.

Next year in Burnaby!

Dude, it was a very good year for the old club. Attendance was up, games were good and the Sunday 'extended session' had a tremendous selection of quality games.

But you were missed, so do make a point of dropping by next year, if not sooner.... :'(

Why thank you! Sometime later this year (September/October, likely) I'll do another 'weekend in the big city' like I did at the beginning of December - hit up one of the Trumpeter club nights, probably run a game, then spend the rest of the weekend doing non-gaming socializing stuff.

And short of being actually, properly out of town next Trumpeter Salute, I will be there next year!
