Old School Narnian Project- figure ideas sought
« on: April 16, 2014, 10:03:24 AM »
I'm a big C S Lewis Narnia fan and also of the work of illustrator Pauline Baynes. Of late I have been thinking of using some of my Mythical Earth figures (the giant springs to mind) for some Narnia based gaming.I looking for other suggestions for 25/28mm old school figures to use to depict Narnia.Any suggestions?
Cheers
Alan

Just saw the Indiegogo isn't backed..  :?
Maybe you can contact them if you'd like their soldiers..
Think I'm gonna buy them myself too..

Highlander Studios - Rod Campbell - IIRC he did some figures...

Also, there is that Scottish range - Claymore Figures - lots of good stuff in there...

How wonderful. Did this project come to anything? I hope it did. I was just about to ask the same question about suitable figures.  Splintered Light have a range of woodland warrior creatures that would be pretty useful.

There's also the oathsworn minis burrows and badgers range and dark sword miniatures for woodland critters ( a certain rapier wielding mouse springs to mind...my favourite character from the series as a child  :D ) although they may be a bit too anthropomorphic depending on your vision of Narnia. Would love to see what you come up with. Good luck!

Even the old GW metal Ungors could do as satyrs, they're not massive, unlike their larger breathren.
And you need a bear too...

I once saw an amazing Narnia project done using wood elf glade riders as the basis for centaurs with armour moulded on in the style of the films. They used wild cats and a rhino mixed in amongst them to complete the cavalry units.
For the faun infantry I think they used ungors as a base with head swaps and sculpted on armour, mixed in with some done with beastmen heads like the ram headed ones in the first film.
I think they used the original Lotr gw dwarf archers.

I thought about doing my own fauns at one point. since I'm not very skilled with sculpting in green stuff I was going to cut an armoured human and an ungor at the waist and use the ungor bottom half with the human top half.i was thinking Lotr gw Minas tirith Warriors since I have a tonne of them sitting unused.
