Giant spiders [updated 23/11/14]
« on: 16 April 2014, 07:39:14 PM »
I've got a few Otherworld Miniatures giant spiders on the go right now (a commission). The first two are done (bar the basing) and I've got another two to go. Decided to go with different colour schemes on the all for the sake of variety. I think I'll do another predominantly black one partly inspired by the ladybird spider and I might do the other a brownish colour but with some green on it.

Super cool, I have come close many times to ordering one of those.  Nice work as usual.

Cor that's some nice paintin'.  :-*  Nicely-placed highlights on the head, legs etc., choice of colour makes the eyes on both pop, and the freehand is excellent.

Very nice. Even with the warning title I was pushing back from the screen when I saw them.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Very nice brushwork on those. I really appreciate the shading. Very much character and convincing freehand on the abdomens.

One quick question: there appears to be a reflection of light from the abdomen of the second figure. Is that a real reflection? Or did you paint that reflection on the figure across the freehand designs?

Thanks
n

Your paint work is always amazing.

I hope you one day have time to do a quick tutorial on how to do "black" like that.  I know it's not really black, but it would be so useful for many other figures.  Especially since I'm about to do some Drow for a dungeon crawl...

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Purely a reflection from my lamps.

Well I can give you the colours used. Black base coat, highlight with VGC Shadow Grey and a little VGC Ghost grey for the sharpest highlights.

 :)
