Good question  :)

The tiles are fired but then they are glazed as well, especially for better class buildings but the clay when fired is grey in nature as oppose to the terracotta colour in the west.

The colours do vary around the country as they do in Europe and I try to changes the shades on the buildings that I do.

cheers

James

OK, so it is just the clay type. I suppose that makes sense. Bone china and porcelain having their provenance out east. Thinking about it the roofs of the Forbidden city are all the more familiar terracotta colour and photos I've seen of temples and houses in Vietnam show quite a bit of variation.

Cheers.

Indeed!
Love the frontage on the grey building, those 'doors'(?) are great.

Thanks chaps  :)

@Carlos - Interestingly, red and yellow were the imperial colours in ancient China, wit yellow having more importance than the red.

Really nice Jimbo Baggins but as the late Lemmy used to say too late too late

Bit of a commercial post this one as I've finished a new master for the Post Town range.

It could also be used for later periods and the lower front window is a separate item that will also be available separately.

This is being moulded now and I'll have a few casts ready for Salute.

I've also got this one that I've had for a while now, also suitable for later Sengoku and Edo/Meiji periods. Still painting up a display version for the show but I'll show it here when it's ready.

And then finally there will be a new additions set in the form of some more goods/barrels etc

There will be a proper shopping trolly installed on the website after Salute and there will be a proper Commercial post to go with it.

cheers

James
