Skytrex 1/144 Siemens-Schuckert D.IV for Wings of War
« on: 08 July 2008, 07:20:47 PM »
Just painted up the first of my new beauties. Now all I need are the new booster packs. The Sopwith Snipe is for comparison.

If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)

Very nice model ! Ive looked at Skytrex, but they seemed  a bit fiddly to make up - all those struts etc to glue up ! .

In fact it isn't that hard. The outer struts hld the wings, so it isn't that important if the inner struts won't fit as good as you wont. The Fokker D.VIII and the DH.2 are somewhat more of a problem, but both Siemens-Schuckerts, the SE5a and the Foker E.III are rather easy.

Great job!  :-*

I have a Fokker DVII of their planes but haven't managed to paint it yet. Was it hard to fit it to The WoW-base?

I've scratch-built two observation ballons for that superb game. You can see them here:

For the base i just drilled a hole and glued a piece of nail to the mini.

Those balloons are stunning!  :o

I like the Zeppelin! Old school construction, too! How big is it, overall?

About 8 inches. Thank you for the compliments. They were really fun to build.

Nice work, all!

Litko Aerosystems has started stocking blank laser-cut bases that are the same size as the Wings of War bases. You don't get the four-part peg, but they make a little cloud token with four positions that serves the same purpose. That saves you from having to cannibalize other bases - the stats for the aircraft are easy enough to infer.

£6? In germany they are between €6.49 and €7.19 (admittedly at the cheapest retailer I know of), that's about £4.50. In fact the Skytrex models cost me a bit more, I paid £29 for 6. The stand is from one of my original WoW miniatures.
