Mordheim terrain project

First things first, I have embarked on a project to de-skull the most egregious failures in taste on the GW fantasy terrain. I really like these both in looks an playability, once the skulls and other excesses are reduced.

These were entirely filled with skulls, but I found an alternative.


These had rows of skulls where there is now wood, and large skulls between every. single. arch.

I could not agree more with the sentiment that is motivating this project!  lol lol lol They're like a cheesy metal band of 12 year olds when it comes to putting skulls on things.

I, too, applaud any project which involves removing skulls from anything GW related.

So at the bottom of the tower there are spots for big skull pillars. I intend to put some kind of gargoyle or statue on them. Any ideas? There's space for a ~28mm figure.

Great work, and it's exactly what I intend to do with mine :).

On hte subject of the pillars I have recently seen someone use the statues from the LOTR ruins and they appear to fit perfectly.

Those are perfect! Also, thanks for this link - this guy's stuff is inspirational for paint schemes.

They look awesome without the skulls. Love it.

Great Idea - saves shaving and cutting all of the skulls out - really fits the look of the tower as well!

I have spent some time covering all the skulls on the Garden of Morr walls with green stuff and sculpting stone blocks in place.
This is a far simpler option and works very well.
I must go back and finish those damn walls at some point....

A very cool project. Some skulls are never a problem, depending on the building e. g. a crypt, a battlefield etc. but I have to say I do not enjoy the skull spamming GW style. It really makes an otherwise nice model look super cheesy.

I will be interested in how this turns out, as it already looks very good. Your changes really pronounce the good aspects of the kit and turn it from "meh" into awesome.
