Its very odd, I get to this time of year and get an urge to go back to my  Japanese stuff, I am already planning more units for the Boshin war, gonna do some in summer uniform methinks... It also doesnt help when you post up new products, so you are directly to blame  :D

So a quick question, how useful are the Empress minis New Zealand War range useful for the British in Japan in the 1860s?

Not very really, I've had a look and they are too early I think. Some could be used for ships crew included in smaller actions. Some of the civvies could be used at a push but not many.

Started a new unit or two for my Boshin war stuff. Might not be historically acurate but its a bit of a change to black or blue uniforms. So i painted up Shogunate troops in summer uniform. Expect different painted troops over the next few months.

A good take on it and I don't see why they shouldn't be in summer uniform  8)

Enjoyed painting them, think I will do a couple of groups of eight for Sharp Practice, should look okay on the gaming table

Just thinking that maybe they would look good as un-dyed linen. You know, a rushed set of uniforms that weren't able to be coloured on time? Dunno if that would work or not.

I think they could pass for undyed linen, these wont be used in the display game, but I'm tempted to collect more figures to do larger battles, I'm looking at the black powder rules as something to use for larger games
