Vickers HMG Team Figure Query
« on: 05 May 2014, 06:24:08 PM »
I have been painting the Brigade Models WW1 in Africa British HMG team firing pack and came across something odd. The figure feeding the belt appears to be wearing either a glove, or something over his forearm. The reason I think this, is due to the lack of detail on his arm compared with the other figures.

Has anyone else painted this figure and can you shed any light as to whether it is his arm or something else?

I have attached the picture of the figure in question, painted apart from the left arm and hand!

Sometimes the gun team's second would wear gloves in case he needed to touch the water jacket, which would be scalding hot after sustained firing. Maybe he wanted to keep one on to prevent devastating chafing during the loading.

Yes, that could be it, or a sleeve of some kind. Never seen any references showing a sleeve though.
