Possibly not news to some but I've come across a material that looks like it will be perfect for making home made trees.
Last week I noticed for the first time, that the plant pots at work were covered with a fibrous material, not unlike the rubberised horsehair of terrain making fame. I picked some up and saw instant potential for tree and brush making material. The folk that tend our plants told me that it was Coconut Fibre and commercially available at one of our hardware warehouse chains (Bunnings).
So today I picked up a bag. Looks like one could make a lot of trees for the six dollar outlay i made. Because it's a natural fibre and brown, it shouldn't need any painting or priming. I'm thinking of just spraying it with spray adhesive or alternatively, water down PVA and then dusting with clump foliage. Will probably give it a spray varnish afterwards.
Anyone used this stuff before? Tips/ tricks?
Here's what it looks like.
