Welcome to LAF. I have many happy memories of holidaying in your area as a child. That is many years ago though  :)

... You should refresh your memory and visit Normandy once again... ;)
It's a nice place ... With a lot of historical inheritages :
- Celtic oppidum
- Roman cities
- Viking settlements
- Norman castles from William's era(of course !)
- Battlefield of Formigny (last battle of the 100 Years war)
- Renaissance Manors
- and of course the landing beaches... And the 70th commemoration of the 6th of June this year...
So, a lot of inspiration sources for wargaming, isn't it ?  :)

Welcome to LAF Tufoo.

May you have a long and merry stay with us.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Somewhere I have a slide photo of myself and my family from about 1967 climbing over a wrecked Tiger Tank somewhere in Normandy or similar area. I was 6 I think at the time. I have looked high and low for this but have yet to find it. Also a wonderful memory of my older brother coming out of an ammunition bunker with a live shell he found underground (the barbed wire was easy to move.....). Happy days.

This summer I am off to the South with my own family and my sister in law's bunch. Hoping to get to Carcassonne and also a new miniatures museum I have discovered........

I may well look at your area next year!

Great picture !!!

I suppose that this is the Tiger of Vimoutiers, a village of Normandy (Orne).
It was abandoned from the Germans during the battle of the Falaise-pocket.
The Tiger is always visible in Vimoutiers, exposed and painted in some fantasy colours and in poor conditions :
(see "Tigre Vimoutiers" on Google)

See you soon back to Normandy !
