Defense of the Philippines
« on: May 19, 2014, 05:47:25 PM »
My grandfather served in the U.S. Navy during World War Two. He was part of the forces that were to defend the Philippines from the Japanese. Consequently he survived the Bataan Death March after the invasion. My interest in gaming the early years of the war is relatively new, but there are so many wonderful minis and models to choose from the temptation is finally getting the better of me. Does anybody know of any manufacturer who makes Filipino troops? Tiger makes some of the Insurrectos from the pre-war period, and they might work. This theater of the war is so often overlooked, and yet it is quite interesting to me on a very personal level. My grandfather thought very highly of the people of the Philippines. To his dying day he respected them for fighting tooth and nail for their country.

Eureka produces a 10 figure, 15mm Filipino Infantry 1941 pack. They also have Wake Island Marines, Sailors and Cavalry for the same period. In the US:
