"Hot wheels" for 15mm Riflethings
« on: 22 May 2014, 03:56:30 PM »
I started with:

And finished with:

Overall a pretty minimal conversion, but a lot of fun!  I disassembled the toy and stripped the paint from the metal parts with oven cleaner (ick!) and then primed with regular spray primer.  I swapped the front wheels for slightly larger ones too.

Amazing transformation! I was looking at those the other day, but they seemed too big for my 10mm stuff.  I like the use of a 40k plasma pistol. What did you use for the coupla?  Were you at all tempted to keep the translucent blue windshield visible?

Thanks!  The cupola is a random cylindrical thing from my bits box, I think its the ring from a krazy glue tube, you know the one that keeps the nozzle from screwing down and breaking the foil seal before you're ready to use it?  I thought about keeping the windshield clear, but its not clear enough to see a figure seated inside very well, not really worth the effort of masking it off etc.  Plus, this looks pretty good.

A lot of 40k hand weapons would make decent 15 mm mounted weapons, actually.  This one is probably the best though.

I love the paint scheme for your riflethings! Do you have any infantry figures painted as well?

Good to know.  I think you're paintjob on the widow looks far better than the leaving it transparent. I was just curious.
