Amazons vs Samurai
« on: 27 May 2014, 10:37:46 PM »
As you can probably tell from the title this isnt a historically accurate combat so if you are a hard core history nut then you might want to look away.

Tonight a small contingent of Amazons (12 sword and 1 archer) contested a bridge held by some barbarians (6) and samurai armoured with pikes (6) and a lone Amazon archer defector.

The amazons struggled to hit anything at all although when they did the barbarians need for a 6 on a d6 armour save cost them casualties!

That said the samurai charging in with a plus 1 to hit made an impact and until the end the Amazons were being whittled down. Their double attacks failing consistently to hit.

Then the tides turned and the Amazons had a run of hits eliminating the barbarians and leaving only two samurai and the archer alive.

Facing five Amazons and the archer things looked grim ... another samurai fell but the extra armour of the final one kept him in the game as the archer on the Samurai side failed critically to kill the two Amazons closing on her position.

Finally the archer was cut down by a charging Amazon and the last samurai held on grimly undead archery and sword attacks. Luck had turned though and despite wounding the Amazons archer the Samurai fell to an Amazon warrior.

......

Which was a very fun way to spend forty minutes with my son. We are lining up for a rematch for which my Amazons are looking forward to.

The only picture I took happens to feature the two Samurai my son hasnt painted yet!

Rules: Home brew, hit on a 5 or 6
Everyone has one wound (except the archers who have 2)
Samurai save on 4,5,6
Barbarians save on 6
Amazons get double attacks
Archers get double attacks if they remain stationary
There is a range limit to archery
Melee is base to base except for Samurai who can attack one rank away
Samurai get plus 1 on charge attacks

Figures:
Dark Sword Miniatures Amazons painted by me
Perry Miniature Samurai painted by my son
Barbarians ... maybe Rackham painted by my son

My son is ten and he thought it would be neat for me to share out battle with you all

Comments welcome.

(PS if this should be in Fantasy then if the mods want to move it that is fine.

This is delightfully weird. Would love more pictures if you do it again.

Hi,

I made the bridge  8)

I went to the Games Workshop Head Office last year and the scenary inspired me. The bridge is a swing bridge and actually swings :) Its made from a cut down table mat that I got for £2 in The Range.

I cut notches in some wooden up posts so that the bridge would have no underneath support and would swing like a in actual swing bridge. It is actually pretty cool when you put figures on it the bridge sags and sways. :D

Delighted you like it. Never shown any of my scenary to anyone outside of the house before.
