Rather than injecting the resin in I used a split mould technique - cuts down the mould making time by half

Hi Velvet!

Very interesting!
Could you please explain better this "split mould technique"?

Thank you
Marco

Did you ever end up doing cloud or Vincent from ff7?

Not Yet Carlos but its definitely on the cards. Ive actually revisited Aeris face so its a bit more inline with my more recent sculpts. I want to get Clould Vincent and Yuffie spot on, as they were my favorite characters:)

I keep forgetting to look here, Mark! Everything looks great, the painting especially so!

Thanks Andrew! I appreciate it mate:)

Awesome stuff once nore.

Love Britannia, those rosey cheeks are adorable.

Hehe thanks! Im pleased with the flesh tones on her - I was reading an article how Jen Haley paints her flesh tones, mixing greens and purples in to it. Whilst mine are nowhere near that level it was great to do more than my usual basecoat/wash/highlight.

The mini was born out of two miscast minis - a Kasumi and Chaos warrior. I was going to do her as a one off but thought she' be great cast up:)

When I have some spare cash, I'll have to shoot you another order, loving the elves!
Cheers WK! I want to do a mounted version compatable with Impact Minis' ponies. And a chibi cold one. And a witch king on a Chibi Dragon... lol:D

Hey Marco, yes rather than making one mould side, allowing to cure and making a second mould side. You put the mini into a space and fill it all with silcone. Once its cured you cut into it leaving 25% uncut at the bottom. As you can see in with the cast the resin is poured in and gravity does the rest. I tried it with the Beefy castle Crasher as its quite large mini. I cast without presure or vacuum, so the split gravity feed mould wouldnt work for smaller more delicate casts, but it worked well for that particular mini.

Ive currently caught a strong 15mm Flames of War bug, so Ive not got any new chibis to show you all yet. THere is a little goblin dude in Roman mail that I think is nearly there, dont think I posted him on here yet, just need to make the mould.

Thanks for looking!
Mark

Few more chibi pics to share

Recently picked up some Beesputty to try out from Heresy Miniatures in the UK. Rapid deliverly as normal:) I got the Plastic and the firm.

Black Mage

Tonbery and White mage

I picked up some pressure casting gear

50psi!

And this was the first dude I case, as a one piece. No bubbles!

Its a good medium to try out, It sticks to armatures far better than sculpey and is lovely to sculpt with. The above sculpts were done in 1/2 hours. However its suffers the same issues as sculpey when Baked - It is extremently brittle around the thin areas such as hands and feet. You end up having to superglue bits back on as it breaks off.

I had a World of Warcraft chibi commission eariler this month which I used greenstuff for. Its slower to sculpt with but its durable, old faithful lol.

As always, thanks for looking!

Been a while since I last updated the thread, here are a few more pics! The pressure set up is working great for mould making and casting. Will be getting a vacuum pump soon.

Resin Tonberry cast painted up

Beesputty and Greenstuff Cloud

Thanks Bergil and Voivod (and thanks for the PM majorsmith:) )Ive not been the best forum'er of late, but Ive been cracking on with my little sculpts. Here are a few pics!

Started off doing a chocobo a few months back with the idea of making a simple racing game to play with my boys. Basic shape wip

some green stuff

A bit more :) Love greenstuff for its robustness, especially as I like to play around with poses.

Then butcher the poor thing for casting lol

First cast came out surprisingly well, did individual moulds for each piece so any miscasts do not generate a surplus of other pieces

Made some riders as "one offs"...

But ended up casting them too.

Some paint on them now, Black mage

Green generic racer

Jo on black chocobo

Cloud

Ive been getting involved with the chibi swap on the chibi facebook page. A bit like secret santa all year round, great fun. I knocked up this one

My copy and targets copy

30 min beesputty Sculpt

Painted copy - I made 3 of these and I speed painted him in 20 mins or so. My youngest lad was joining in so I had to oversee his water pot antics! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1623873131225379&set=a.1448497885429572.1073741831.100008081231268&type=3&theater

Eye

Some rules for a racing game ive working on. Snakes and ladders meets bloodbowl

Made from blue extruded insulation foam.

Cyberpunk syndicate wars

Ive done a few more as well which Ive posted on FB only made the moulds for one so far though.

Beesputty Cactus

Another mini of mine for the chibi swap

Got a new airbrush off the misus for Christmas so put it to work here for my winter chibi swap:)

A commission I did for On The Lamb Games - was originally going to be a promo only available at conventions but the demand was really good so they sold it through their website during Adepicon too:)

Kun fu panda - currently making a mould for him

Ice queen

Resin painted copy

Another commission piece

These dudes are in silicone as I type:)

My copy of a commission I did a while ago.

Phew! That's all I've uploaded to photobucket so far, there's a few more recent bits on Instagram and Facebook, including a space marine and a massive medusa!
