No. 10 - The Pathan

"The warlike Pathans [or Pathan, Pukhtun or Pushtun] form one of the world's largest tribal societies and are divided into numerous sub-tribes and clans.... The Pathan hill tribes all have a passion for freedom and independence, and defend their territory and honor against all invaders. They are fearless guerilla fighters who know the hills and valleys intimately, are crack shots and wear clothes that blend with their surroundings (khaki is a local word meaning 'dusty, and it was as a result of the wars in this region that the British army abandoned its bright red uniforms for the inconspicuous dust-colored khaki). No one has ever managed to subdue or unite them: the Mughals, Sikhs, British and Russians have all suffered defeat at their hands."

Far from the high standards already displayed here, but I've been dieing to contribute to one of these "100 clubs".

Lovely. He'll come in handy. No doubt a crack shot with the jezzail and a purveyor of unplayable swing bowling too, I'll warrant.  :)

Possibly the last one from me for a few days, need to get the postie to bring me some more paint. I'm sure you guys can take up the slack.

Great figures guys.
The Pathan has a very mean look about him, just as if he was concentrating on killing the infidel who have invaded his valley.
Love the addition of the leopard skin on the Foundry Askari. Well painted too!

Hope to be adding my contribution soon.

The original sculpt is meant to be Mtesa, king of Buganda (Foundry Darkest Africa).

However, as far as we're concerned, he's from wherever the crazy Dane says he's from.  :)
