Non Discworld miniatures... Discworld Miniatures?
« on: 15 June 2014, 10:24:24 PM »
So i DO like the micro arts figures, but i'm fairly sure they won't be suitable for what I have in mind for a potential project. Human, dwarf characters don't seems to be too much of a problem, but I'm at a loss as to what to use for Trolls. Does anyone have any ideas? Large, naked or nearly naked humanoids with a forehead and knuckle surplus.

Any help/discussion appreciated.

The otherworld bugbears could also just as easily be trolls.

What about the Reaper Rock Elemental?
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

That's pretty much how I imagine Discworld trolls - more like geological formations in motion than tough-skinned humanoids.

This is the microarts version for comparison

Great suggestions! I think the Reaper elemental and the red box... exhibitionist are the best picks, although i'd have to perform an unpleasant operation on the latter as kids would be playing the game ;). What's the size of that Reaper elemental, it looks a bit big?

I actually think that the GW Hobbit trolls are the closest match to the image that I have in mind, but they're enormous...

You could always repaint and convert some Heroclix "the Thing"s - there's probably a good half-dozen poses at least.

Or, if you want to get all fancy and expensive, there's the Knight miniatures version:

Personally, I think those CP models trolls are beautiful, though I suppose they're not very Discworldly.

I agree Fram, they're lovely. And the Thing is a good call. Thanks for all the ideas everyone!

I had thought this too with the Thing, but wasn't sure if he wanted to go there.

Clix "Things" available

There's also a She-Thing

Did you know that 'The Thing' is Jewish?

Not a lot of people know that.
