I unfortunately think of Roger Moore with that name  :?

cheers

James

I have only ever heard it as a translation of Kensei in books.

How about "Kenshi" which I think means swordsman.

LOL

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions LAFers! ^_^ I've now decided for Zanshin, it sounds cool and many people suggested it to me!

As for the general name, we're now thinking at Swords' Dance... what do you think?

Besides, soon i'll write a game description on my website too, and after a few tests i'll start distributing the beta rules and cards for anyone interested! ^^

Cheers
Jack

Swords Dance: Zanshin (Sounds a bit too much like an anime.)
Sword School: Zanshin (Same problem)

Zanshin: Samurai Duels
Zanshin: Sword Saints
Zanshin: Duels of Honour

Could you not just call it Zanshin the have a tag line such as "Duels in feudal Japan."

I wouldnt mind being part of the beta test. Could try it with teh GF and family.

What about just something like 'Swordplay: zanshin'?

The idea was to have a "brand name", so i can extend it in the future with stuff like:
Swords' Dance: Morituri (gladiators)
Swords' Dance: En Garde (swashbucklers)
Swords' Dance: ...

well, all of those sounds quite terribly, but you understand what i mean! ^_^
For now, i'll call this Zenshin!

PM'd!

(just to clarify: For now i need to make the game work, so iìll take only 2-3 betatesters, then i'll put the "kinda working" rules online! I'm planning a kickstarter, but it will be for the cards and not for the rules, that are fairly simple! :) )

Hi Jack,

glad that you liked Zanshin, I was the one suggesting it on your FB page :)

How about calling the system Shrine of Steel: Zanshin (for the Japanese cards). Then you can name other settings in similar fashion, e.g. Shrine of Steel: Renaissance etc

Cheers,

Antti

I really like that!

I was just thinking that sometimes something simple yet descriptive would be useful for a series of games; so you could have the 'Swordplay' series of close combat card games, kanshin being one of them. There's lots of scope to expand, for example Medieval European longsword combat would be an interesting one for the future. You should be able to access some great images from various instructional manuals of the day.

That was EXACTELY my idea!

However, that's a brief description and introduction to the game on my website!

I know that's not much, but let me balance the decks and i will release much more! :)

Cheers

I had a few matches with my GF this evening, i've to say that the game works well! of course, i needs a LOT of balancing, yet the dynamics and the ideas behind seems to be well assorted.

Soon i'll post some playable decks!

"Duel of Honor: Zanshin" for the current set...

For future sets...

"Duel of Honour: Fiore'" (Italian renaissance)
"Duel of Honour: Talhoffer" (german longsword)

etc
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."

Duel of Honour? i like it too! I've to make a list... fortunately it's not as urgent as the specific name! ^_^

Why did you choose Fiore for the italian wars? :)
