British Marines for FIW?
« on: 22 June 2014, 01:17:37 PM »
British Marines for the French and Indian War, what did their uniform look like?

Does anyone make figures in 28mm? Or could I use British regulars? It seems google has failed me on this one.

This engraving, dating to about 1757, shows marines in fusilier-style mitre caps:

Figures seem hard to come by. Recently, Northstar has added some to their upcoming pirate range, but I don't know how they compare to other ranges. Several others are mentioned in this TMP thread.

Several regiments of marines served in the AWI, and these are documented wearing tricornes, their uniforms being red with white facings.

Thanks gents.

I though the new Northstar ones looked to be earlier than FIW but perhaps not. I'd need a few extra riflemen to make them usable for Muskets & Tomahawks though. It appears I have some thinking to do

The North Star ones are for the first few decades of the eighteenth century. Squint a bit and scrape off the monogram on the mitre and they might do though.
