And what about a new KS with some clearly non-40k inspired miniatures  o_o

Quote
Our miniatures will be scaled to the same size as the most popular 28mm miniatures games.  This means that most humans will be approximately 28mm to eye level while other units like our heavy armored Lancers will be closer to 32mm.

the chaps over at dakka dakka have truly picked the meat from the bones of this kickstarter.
i think the guys running this campaign really don't see the difference between making mobile apps and making a wargame.
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

I actually kind of like the renders, but the finished product looks rubbish. Also shipping is more expensive than the cheapest mini pledge, which is off-putting.

Both side look like they'd fit into the generic sci fi future of Deadzone, especially the beastly crew that seem to fill the role of Orks. At 32mm they might dwarf the Mantic troops, which is not a bad thing for huge angry aliens.
I was considering grabbing a starter or two from the Fallen Frontiers kickstarter before it was cancelled, but this one looks like much better value.
$40 for 24 hard plastic minis seems like a pretty good deal to me, especially as you essentially end up with two starters. $100 for more than 50 minis, including a mech, seems just as good.
The painted prints don't look so hot (kind of like the Warzone remake) despite the renders looking nice (also like Warzone). If the final product looks good, and I'll wait until I can see them before I commit (thanks to you, Sedition Wars) I'll be in for the bad guys, at least.

$999,999 stretch goal? Looking at the preceding goals, $4550,000 would have been more reasonable. $25 shipping to Australia feels like a steal after the recent postage price hikes around the globe.
Like a lot of recent KS, I guess the mantra is 'wait and see'. I haven't pledge for anything since Mars Attacks.

I actually like the armors and I don't think they're that much 40K inspired considering the number of total rip-offs those days.
I hope people won't be disappointed with the material as it looks a bit soft or weird but that might be the pics.
Good luck to them. Looks like they won't need it but their costs seem to have been calculated precisely (xx,x) and I wonder if all will goes well in that aspect.

renders look nice (I like the not sci-fi uruk hai type creatures), however the models shown so far are pretty poor, the level you would expect from plastic models in the 90's, nowhere near good enough for today's standards.

3D prints that seem to be carved in butter on a hot summer day, and same marketing language as used by Tony Reidy (go USA, go!), completely put me off this.

It seems like just about everyone and their grandmother are taking a shot at the GW market these days. This one even has their funding level at a totally coincidental 40K...  ::)

Was a great idea back when GW ruled suppreme (and saleswise they still do, probably), to break the monopoly they had, but with all these 'not's and knock-offs of late, I'm almost nostalgic for some 'real' 40K again.

Almost... :P
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The team seems pretty professional, some of them have a really interesting curriculum!

the models themself are kinda "meh", but i'll follow this curiously. There's a serious lack of good plastic scifi around.

And yes, the 3d tests look really bad. But... have you ever tried to make a photo to an almost white flat material? I honestly can't judge the quality from those photos. Maybe a quick wash before making the pictures would have helped. :S

BTW, what is according to them "hard plastic"?
Because I doubt it'll be HIPS (the "real" hard plastic, the ones used by GW or WF).
To start with, those minis have undercuts that wouldn't work with a steel mold.
Also, the tooling for steel molds is very expensive, and 40K dollars won't cut it.

good point, in this case those aren't really appealing.
