North Star Kadesh range?
« on: June 28, 2014, 05:58:26 PM »
This range is new to me (although I haven't been paying much attention recently :P),but has anybody got any experience of it? I'm assuming they're the compatible with Foundry?

I am very tempted by this deal.

Also, any one have any experience with their mdf chariots?

Thanks  :)

I haven't done a direct comparison but I'm pretty sure they're bigger than Foundry. The Foundry ones are rather old and as such are more 25mm than 28mm.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I have the Sea People, which are part of that sweet deal, and they are ever so slightly broader than Foundry, along the lines of the BTD range, so I would not hesitate to use them all together, even in the same unit.

I certainly plan to buy into this range, as the Sea People are  :-*. Between these and the Cutting Edge minis thru Warlord, we are recently spoiled for choice for this period.

I'll try to get a comparison pic tomorrow.

Hi, I have only seen pictures of these so far. But without having seen the minis especially the chariots for real I am still hesitating.
I hope I can see these at Crisis this year.
As Steve Saleh is the sculptor I am quite confident about their quality. A recent Wasgames Illustrated Issue included an interview with Steve and has shown a few pictures of the new Egyptians.

cheers Thomas

P.S. I would love to see the comparison pic :-)
These days it's Warhammer the Old World and Freebooters Fate I am working on !

I'll be going into North Star on Thursday, if you can wait until then I'll try and remember to take some Foundry figures with me to sneak a comparison pic :)

That's a pretty good match for me (& lovely painting) - I'm sold!

I'll report back when I get them (still not overally convinced by mdf chariots, but we'll see)

@Dewbakuk - if they have any news on the rest of range, I'd be happy & interested to hear it  :)

Cheers everyone

Got the parcel this morning, & like what I see :D

Perhaps too many duplicates, which is fine for rank & file, but less so for officers (& charioteers). However, they do seem to fit well with Foundry & Scarab, so it shouldn't be a huge problem (+ hopefully the Cutting edge ones will so be re-released by Warlord).

I've a quick play with the mdf chariot, it was pretty simple to put together, but the curved basket bit was bit fiddly & not the best fit (it's  actually cardboard).

For those new to mdf chariots (like me!), I've here's a few photos

Now onto the painting! :o

I don't suppose you could post a comparison with some chariots by Foundry, Redoubt, Newline etc
Cheers

That chariot doesn't look that bad. With some weathering and perhaps wood structure cutting it could become a lovely piece.

Is it the bending of the card that was the problem? I was just looking at the pic and wondered if rolling it around a paint pot would make it fit easier.

Sorry, all my old ‘Biblical’ stuff (apart from some Foundry Canaanites) are long gone. If I do get more, I will post comparison shots.

In the instruction sheet, that's what they suggest (& I did), but I was probably too impatient - I don’t even really like to two piece figure castings lol. I’m sure by the 3rd one, I’ll have probably learnt by my mistakes ;D

It’s probably prohibitively expensive, but an etched brass piece looks as though it would work nicely.
