Mighty Empires Game Pieces Questions
« on: July 05, 2014, 03:58:58 PM »
This may sound odd, but what size/scale could the 1st Ed. ME gaming pieces be classified as? I'm mainly thinking of the villages, castles (and small bridges made in metal).

˝mm? Smaller?

And are there manufacturers out there doing similary scaled pieces that could be used for some of the features not included as plastic pieces in the bosed set? Mines, great walls, siege equipment, etc.?

And is someone out there in possession of the pdf ruleset? I may have it in some remote corner on my old harddrive, and shall go looking right away, but still...  ::)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

They made extra bits to go with it, but there seemed to be no common scale....

If you can't find it I do but it's 17mb, would have to put it on Google docs or something, send me a PM if you can't find it.

Might the 1/1000th scale buildings etc that Brigade Models make be of any use to you?

the scales of every single piece were inconsistent. I substituted and added whatever was available

Those Brigade Models buildings could be a good place to start  :)

I know the scales were kind of all over the place, but most of you guys probably know the pieces I'm referring to.

Does someone make siege equipment in 2 mm size or the likes?

If you can't find it I do but it's 17mb, would have to put it on Google docs or something, send me a PM if you can't find it.

Found it on the old hard drive after all, but thanks!  :)

I have a plan involving about 6 sets of 1st Ed. ME, some sheets of clear acrylic, and any wargaming rulesets the players would like to use for solving battles (explained a bit further over at my blog, but still in the opening moves).

Not got my mighty empire figs here so I can only go by memory. The fortress was about 20mm high and represented quite a tall keep like structure. If we say 40 feet then thats about 1/600 so 2 mm scale infantry would seem be about the right ballpark*. Most of the rest of the plastic Mighty empires stuff would be out of scale wih that though.

You may find that the necropolis and the wizards tower would work ok scale-wise with the fortress. The dragons may also work as really huge monsters. Wasnt there a the bigger metal bridge with towers? That might work too. I have seen the wizard tower and fortresses used on islands in Man O' War and they looked ok next to the ships IIRC.

* edit, corrected this bit.

Yes, I have one of the bridge sets - the large bridge seems more in scale with some of the other stuff than the small one.

But if I can just find 2mm sized stuff like Brigade Models' (they mention that they plan to do fantasy/medieval buildings, too  :D ) it will go a long way to cover my needs. The exact realtive sizes are not that important, as I just want more different pieces to choose from.

Know what? I just dug out my Man'o'War stuff, too  ;D It's going to be a long, hot summer...  ;)

Irregular Miniatures have some city walls and towers and also some sort of keep but that does not seem to be pictured.

Some useful pieces among those, too. I think I could sculpt something like some of those myself, but for a rather large project, being able to just order some assorted pieces is much faster, and easier.  :)

There's a german boardgame parts site often has useful things;

Villages;

http://www.spielematerial.de/en/game-components/game-pieces/buildings/settlements-plastic-version.html

Castles;

http://www.spielematerial.de/en/game-components/game-pieces/buildings/set-castels.html

Ships;

http://www.spielematerial.de/en/ships-in-red-white-blue-orange-base-game-2-3-edition-fp-sp.html

Making the armies could easily be done by picking up some of the packs of 10/12mm figures from Kallistra. Each pack contains 4 bases of figures which could easily be an army each -- and you'd get species to match the rules as well then.

Another good call!

I'll have a plethora of choices, it seems!  :)
