Looking for appropriate figures
« on: 16 July 2014, 12:43:03 AM »
Greetings all, long time lurker, thought I'd join the fun.

Just received copies of IHMN and got the brain working on some fun companies to build, inspired by a certain short film from a rather well known British comedy troupe. However being new to the period, kinda overwhelmed with the availability, and not sure if I can find mini's to fit the bill.  Looking for 25-28mm figs depicting VSF senior men/women, mostly in the banking or financial industry (bankers, accountants, bookkeeper, etc.)

Would prefer civilian type mini's with makeshift weapons (briefcases, umbrellas, ceiling fan blades), but also need some with firearms.

A combination of LAF mini's VSF-11 Special Assault Team and PA-25 No zone for old men as inspiration.

Also looking for one or two figures in a jungle cat costume.  I know Limpopo makes some lovely dinosaur and ape figs, but would prefer a cat if possible.

Any suggestions???

Do you mean something like an actor/thespian dressed in a tiger costume? That's quite a unique figure request. I have an Impact! miniatures Amazon team for bloodbowl which includes blitzers wearing big cat headdresses and clawed gloves but there is rather a lot of bare flesh on show for VSF.

http://www.impactminiatures.com/minis/big/AmazonTeam.jpg Top figures are the blitzers.

I'm not even sure if Impact sell them as separate miniatures, it couldn't hurt to email them and ask.

I've always been a Ry Cooder fan, THIS brings a tear to me eye...

There's a Vice Alley, Pulp, Post-Apoc, Zombee, IHMN, BoB you name it, scenario buried in those lyrics of his!!

Quote

"My telephone rang one evening my buddy called for me
Said the bankers are all leaving better you come 'round and see
It's a startling revelation they robbed the nation blind
They're all down at the station no banker left behind

No banker no banker no banker could I find
They were all down at the station no banker left behind"

Exactly good sir!
Just thought it would make for an interesting Company.  Just need to find the figures, without breaking the bank!

Those might just work with some conversion.  Was also looking at possibly using a roman velitie (sp?).  Will probably have to get a clown with big pants or something and do some serious kit-bashing.

And yes, the Company I'm thinking of for this specific fig (British rifle company) is also inspired by the same movie (hinted at above).  Add in a fine gent with an All-Electric Limb Prosthesis right  leg and you are all set.  The British/native/Zulu figs are easy to find.

It really is a shame, he had such a promising football career.   :D

Another possibility would be the Tigermen from the Boxer Rebellilon.

And that is why I asked on here.  They should fit the bill very well!

Any recommendations for manufacturers? Quick Google-full turned up Redoubt and Old Glory.  Any other suggestions?

Still looking for some older gents (or ladies) as per my original post - banker/accountant types.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming please.

Foundry has lightly armed Victorian gentlemen in VC025 and some further candidates in Old West.

Which reminds me of their Aztec for the other request. There may be more conversion work than usable source material ahead, though.

Try Eureka Gentlemen too.
