While I don't like Warlord minis, I understand the idea...but if the money isn't going to charity or something it's a bit of a "meh" approach.

As others have rightly said, priced way out of bounds for me...but if you are stupid and want to waste your money, by all means go ahead...but not for me.

As for Warlord's marketing...remember, this is the same firm that brought you the ad campaign that the Waffen SS were really nice guys just terribly misunderstood...okay...

Does not exactly give me a great buzz to think that the memory of Dick winters has come down to the sale of an overly expensive toy soldier.

His memory (as with all those who fought in WWII- and yes I do own WWII mini's!) deserves better- and so do we.

That's a nice model, I can't get to Historicon and frankly, I might well be willing to part with a tenner to get something I really want, next time I'm buying some Bolt Action models.

Quite, but after HBO turned his character into an icon (with his express permission whilst making the programme) it just seems trite to produce a completely expensive model of the actor and not the real Winters.

I don't know, maybe I'm being a bit picky, after all I wouldn't baulk at buying the Empress Mini's Bromhead and Chard though it would be the historical versions that got the lick of paint and made it onto the wargames table......

..... perhaps i'm just having a bad day

Sitting here looking at mine( had to dig it out of a box of unsold flea market stuff) its quite a ordinary sculpt(much like the rest of the BA US airborne figs).
If they do sell its hardly Warlords fault. As I said before they made it as a gift for HMGS to give away.There was probably a big boo hoo from the other BA players around the world so they offered it on the website for a while.To keep the figure "special" they couldn't really sell it for peanuts could they? Then some douche(or entrepeneur) decides to try and get all he can from it on Ebay.So what?
