On the subject of the stone circle, i have come across reference to the Crom Idol being a large rectangular shaped stone leaning to one side i.e. The Crooked One.

That'll do for me! 13 stones, and one painted gold. Result  :D

Incidentally, if anyone has figures suitable for this project .... cash/PayPal and/or exchange to suit you.

James,  I too have been mulling over how to do Drunes.  I think Warlord Games plastic Celts with greenstuff face-masks and round shields would do the job.  They do have trousers (which the Drunes mostly don't) but I think that won't spoil the look.  They have the big advantage that the scabbards, swords, helmets etc are already suitably Celtic in style.

Cheers

James

I used vikings and ghouls form mantic and then tweaked with skeleton arms for weapons and used Saxon and Viking heads

That's what do for my mythological greek army, for zombie or undead hoplites. Or a kind of greek army of the dead if you paint them greenish

Mantic are fantastic for theses kind of conversions  :-*

Interesting.

Thanks James, I like the idea of using the WL plastic Celts despite my aversion to greenstuff. I could probably just about manage to sculp a Skull Sword face-mask/breathing pipe.

Looking at the sprues i'd need a couple of boxes to make 2 x 8 Skull Swords with bare torsos and helmets ... and have a lot of well dressed Celts for the Tribes!

Food for thought ...

Here's a couple of WG Celts with some greenstuff and Gb round Viking shields.
One has nothing more than a face mask added, the other has a bit of work on his helmet and a fur cloak too.

I'll try and get these painted in the next few days.

Get you and your fancy-pants conversions. Put me down for 16 please  ;) :D

Seriously - they look really good. I might just steal the whole idea if the thought of using Lord Weird and Formors starts to jar with me.

For now, i'll finish off what i've bought, think about a Tribe Pantheon to take on Lord Weird/Formors and then take it from there.

Best, J

With James M already working on Drune Lords, my first Pantheon may also morph into a straight Formarian force in order to get stuck into the fray  ...

Using essentially my first list, 900 points(ish) of Formorians:

God
Balor of the Evil Eye*

Legends
Siren "Banshee"
Caitlin, Balor's buck toothed wife "Priestess" [use as Druid/Witch]
1 x Sabre Tooth "Celtic Werewolf"
Formorian War Chief "Generic Hero with Armour"

Mortals
2 x 9 Formorian Warriors [added an extra Warrior to each unit to make the points]

The Warriors are now finished and i have a Reaper Banshee in transist.

*North Star have a Giant Stag for Balor's mount and i'm just thinking about a suitable figure [Chaos Lord type i would imagine]

Good link, that's a nice model.  Hadn't seen that one.  Now how to get Balor on its back...?

I can knock you out some skull swords - I'm only playing around (good break from WW2 stuff).  I have a load of Alternative Armies Fir Bolg that I need to get painted up for myself.
