For those of you who are interested in such things, I've painted up some 3D-printed space pirates designed by Aidan Boustred at WarFactory in homage to the classic Ventolin Pirate from the Rogue Trader adventurers range.

STLs are available to download at WarFactory as part of a fundraiser in support of Ukraine: http://www.warfactory.co.uk/wp/2023/05/14/ventolin-pirate-stl-fund-raiser/?fbclid=IwAR3k8IbALyMRF3Q5-gMUb6XIobowYBevUYIHrigaojRNWEs1z_64T0VGsIk

More words and pics over at my blog.

I saw that picture and immediately recognized them. I've had the original in the inquisitorial henchman pile for years. I picked him up becaus ehe looked just so different.

And a whole squad of them is just ace! For a while I even thought you had actually converted five of them. Will you paint up the others as well?

At any rate: they look absolutely ace; I love 'em. I might even try and get my hands on those STLs myself for a change...

@Deaothar - I don't think I'm quite insane enough to convert up a squad! But then I have done other insane things! I've got the others currently WIP on my table - hoping to finish them this week.

They are such a cool and distinctive design. They really do stand out.

One of my all-time favorite miniatures right there. I, being insane, did cut up four of the old metals to convert a squad.

I also acquired these STLs, just haven't gotten around to printing :)
BigMrTong has a set too.

I really like your color scheme on them, excellent!
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

@Dr Mathias - I hadn't forgotten your fabulous Ventolin squad. I do love the insane scale and ambition of your work ;) I'd be interested to see how the BigMrTong ones compare against these.

I painted a second squad last week:

In addition, here are some random figures - a dude with a bad attitude and some empty bottles, and a little cat. No real reason - just because!!

The Dude is a conversion - RT fans might recognise his head! The little cat is a Citadel Wierd Fantasy Vorpal Kitty.

Is that a Squat biker head? And I love the Vorpal Kitty; I have that one in the stash somewhere as well.

Love the additional pirates; they look great and very distinct as a unit. This makes resisting their call all the more difficult...

That guy looks great! Pure character.

Yes, an original Imperial Guard head on a Ukko the Dwarf from the old Foundry 2000ad range.
It's a wonderful conversion, even if it does incite nerd rage by using two collectors items.

Yep, the head is from an early Rogue Trader Imperial Guardsman (trooper Brock) :)

@JollyBob this is the wrong thread for you if you don't like to see old models cut up ;)

Huh, never spotted Trooper Brock with his non-regulation beard, long hair and shades.

He's either a tier one operator or that one guy on base who can get you anything you want as long as you pay. Or both, probably...  lol

Yes; total horror show, this thread...  ;)
