Thanks all!

@Mason - these are definitely a cut above the usual rural low-rent properties!

Any chance of a tutorial on how you painted them?

As Billchuck said, there are details on the blog, but here's the step by step of the painting:

1. Undercoat with a cheap grey primer.
2. Base coat with a sand-yellow spray.
3. Drybush off-white.
4. Mask each colour with tape and stipple on the colours.
5. Stipple a light brown around the base of the building.
6. Wash with a diluted brown wash around the base of the building and any other desired areas (e.g. window streaks).
7. Lightly drybrush the corners with the off-white

So wonderful! I love how such a paintjob can make them look so different from the usual adobe buildings

A new building and an associated pair of figures to add to my steadily increasing town. This time it's a workshop (Fogou Models again) and some mechanics (Colony 87 by Crooked Dice):

As ever, more words and pics over at my blog.

Those, like all your stuff, are spot on theme and finish. Love the overall cohesion of the whole project  :-* :-*

Your work on all these buildings is inspiring, I love this one and how you made it clear what it's meant to represent. Lovely.

Wow just wow much prefer these to the current oversized and cluttered 40k offerings ,
Your imagination and vision for converting and choosing what figures go to make a warband is excellent ,
And it shows how painting different figures the same colour can tie them together 👍

Thanks all!

@GDonk- I'm delighted to hear you think these all hang together cohesively. It's been around 5 years now since I stopped gaming with armies, and almost every new model / faction / terrain piece I've painted since then is essentially part of the same sprawling project!!

@3 fingers- the highly stylised gothic 40k buildings have their place, but they're not really to my taste :)

Nice work, mate.
 :-*

I am now seeing quite a few adobe types on the horizon for myself, so seeing your take on these is good inspiration.
Oh, and whoever came up with the idea for those Colony 87 figures is a bloody genius....
 :) ;)
