Cry for help. Antenocti GOT vipers out vehicle

I've finally got round to building a few of the vehicles I got at Triples and have become a little ( a lot ) confused about how the suspension goes together. I get the gist of it but as there is no instructions with the kit, only a photo of the built and painted mini I'm not 100% sure. I kind of understand how the white metal bits go on but... They don't seem to fit as I imagined them to without bending them.
     
Soooooo! Dose anybody have any advice or any photos of the underside of any vipers they've built as I'm scratching my head over this and I swear if this is so simple that I've missed it like when you do a jigsaw and finally work out what that piece was for and have a Homer Simpson DOH! moment I'll cry
