Could these possibly work in BoB?
« on: August 10, 2008, 08:53:54 PM »
I've been wondering if these Curteys Himalayan Nomads would work in 1920's Back of Beyond, despite being (presumably) made for much earlier periods:

At first I thought they would not, but then I realized they look similar to the fellow in Copplestone's Back of Beyond logo:

What's the consensus? Would they work or not?

To me I see no reasons at all to not use them. You may find them a little short but they will be a joy to paint. They have really great faces - I've done about five hundred of their Asian miniatures so far with many more in the pile to come.

Most peoples problem with Curteys/Martin Baker sculpts is the style which you haven't questioned. They look right, are correct for location etc. so go for it and dont forget to post pics when they are done.

While I sometimes do have a slight dislike for the "pudgy" look of most Curteys miniatures, I don't really think these suffer from it at all. Any residual pudginess that they might have, looks right in these circumstances.

I suppose that compared to the Copplestone Tibetans, with their muskets and all, these could be considered to be more tribal, "backwater" ones. I'm intending to get them sooner or later anyway, as they make perfect Meruvians for the Hyborian Age. So if I can have them double as tribesmen in BoB, all the better.
