I have VSf and they are very similar to Gaslight. It seems more people are familiar with Gaslight. However for the larger games we have been playing you need the supplement, Battles by Gaslight.

Thanks malamute. I have been flurting with geting gaslight and battles by gaslight. Can you explane what mods your group has had to make if any and dose the rules support creating your own races for alians and the like?

Aha, I've been tempted by VS&S, but seeing as how i have all the GASLIGHT books, I may save myself some cash  ;)

Hi there,

Malamute, Bullshott and I have been tinkering with the rules for a couple of months. To be honest we haven't had to do much work. It's been more a case of adding rules rather than modifying. The main areas we have addresed are flying machines, armour ramming armour and infantry placing explosives on armour. Sometimes the rules can be a bit too simple so we've added some guts to them.

You wont have a problem creating your own races, the rules give you the tools and from there it's a case of trial and error with the stats. If you want to make life easier and go down the route of random creation there's tables for that too.

Not sure if you've already explored these links but they'll take you to the GASLIGHT website and the Yahoo group:

As Thunderchicken said, the GASLIGHT rules are very easy to use and adapt to your own environment. I have played large games with just the standard rules, but the Battles by GASLIGHT supplement allows you to speed up play a lot. The Yahoo GASLIGHT Group is very good for support, as it is moderated by the writers of the rules and they and other group members will reply to any questions you have relating to the rules.

I have created a GASLIGHT playsheet in Word, that can be modified easily to add house rules or new weapons you wan to add to the game. If you decide yto try GASLIGHT drop me a PM and I will send you a copt of the playsheet,
Sir Henry Bullshott, Keeper of Ancient Knowledge
